Vodacom wont be sanctioned
2011-10-04
The Advertising Standards Authority of SA lately related that it doesn't deem it important to impose any farther sanctions on Vodacom after a governing against the firm's 42Mbps modem claims. The ASA ruled against Vodacom's "High Speed 42.2 Mbps USB Modem" advertising after a rival complaint by Cell C. Cell C requested sanctions against Vodacom because they known about the ASA's position on using speeds in broadband adverts, and they have just recently had a few detrimental rulings issued against it. The ASA however felt that Vodacom's actions don't hint at a pattern of deliberate and / or flagrant offence that would be cause for the imposition of sanctions. "[Vodacom] isn't purposely or flagrantly making tricking web speed claims," declared the ASA. The ASA concluded that it doesn't deem it important to impose any farther sanctions on Vodacom at this time.
